More than 100,000 people across the East of England are set to feel the health benefits of a £3.9 million investment to improve Well-being and encourage healthier lifestyles in schools, homes, workplaces and communities throughout the region. Key beneficiaries will include children at school, families, adults in their workplaces, older people and those at risk of exclusion at home or within their communities.

The portfolio "Well-being in the East: Delivering a Healthy Active Future" is led by the Care Services Improvement Partnership (CSIP Eastern) which was awarded £3.9 million of National Lottery funding from the Big Lottery Fund. This programme is one of 14 portfolios that comprise the Big Lottery Fund’s Well-Being programme across the country.

Sport at midnight, digging up allotments, workshops for people with learning difficulties, food gardens in schools, one-to-one support for people keen to change their lifestyle and improve their mental well-being, therapeutic groups for people with common mental heath problems. What have all these got in common?

They form part of a portfolio of 25 projects designed to improve well-being across the East of England which will be delivered over the next three years.

All our projects aim to improve well-being by:

  • Promoting healthier eating
  • Encouraging greater physical activity within normal daily life
  • Improving mental well-being and mental health of people of all ages with an emphasis on the prevention of mental health problems
  • Engaging local communities in activities that will promote social cohesion, improve self esteem and contribute generally to healthier living and well-being
